Getting You Ready for Takeoff

The countdown is on! As we approach your departure date, we want to ensure you feel completely prepared. Please review this checklist to handle the logistics now, so you can focus on relaxation later.

1. Documents & Visas

  • The 6-Month Rule: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. Many countries will deny entry if your passport expires sooner.

  • Check Visas: Verify if your destination requires a visa or an electronic entry authorization. Check here

  • Digital & Physical Copies: Take a photo of your passport ID page and email it to yourself. Pack a physical photocopy in a separate bag from your actual passport.

2. Money Matters

  • Call Your Bank: Notify your bank and credit card companies of your travel dates and destinations to prevent them from freezing your cards for "suspicious activity."

  • Cash is King: While credit cards are widely accepted, we recommend carrying $100-$200 USD in small bills (crisp, untorn notes) for initial tips or airport exchanges.

  • Local Currency: Use airport ATMs upon arrival for the best exchange rates. Avoid currency exchange booths in the airport terminal if possible, as fees are high.

3. Health & Medications

  • Prescriptions: Pack all prescription medications in their original, labeled bottles in your carry-on bag. Never pack essential meds in checked luggage.

  • The "Just in Case" Kit: We suggest packing a small pouch with Advil/Tylenol, Imodium (for stomachs), Band-Aids, and motion sickness bands.

  • Vaccinations: Check the CDC website or consult your doctor regarding recommended vaccinations for your specific destination.

4. Technology & Connectivity

  • Phone Plan: Check with your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) about an International Day Pass. Alternatively, download an eSIM app like Airalo for cheaper local data.

  • WhatsApp: Download WhatsApp. It is the primary mode of communication for hotels, drivers, and guides internationally.

  • Adapters: Check the plug type for your destination. We recommend buying a "Universal Travel Adapter" with USB ports so you can charge multiple devices at once.

5. Packing Smart

  • Carry-On Essentials: Always pack one change of clothes, your chargers, medications, and valuables in your carry-on. If your checked bag is delayed, you will still be fresh for dinner.

  • Leave Room: You will want to bring treasures home. Pack light or bring a packable duffel bag to fill with souvenirs.

  • Comfortable Shoes: We cannot stress this enough—you will likely be walking more than usual. Break in your new shoes before the trip.

6. The Final Countdown

  • 24 Hours Before: Check into your flight online if allowed.

  • 24 Hours Before: Double-check your flight status.

  • Departure Day: Arrive at the airport 3 hours prior for international flights.
